Reverberation

Reverberation, Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 48", 2024

Reverberation was inspired by photos I took of some unrecognizable mechanical objects being overtaken by the earth. Deteriorating human-made forms giving way to rich soil, lush grass and wild flowers; a transforming landscape. 

I made some quick sketches while looking at the photo, then laid down a wash of paint on canvas. Then, I let the forms on the canvas guide my choices in colour and tone, allowing the image to transform into something far removed from its original inspiration.
